Nazih zuhdi biography of george orwell
Internationally renowned heart surgeon and member of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Dr. Nazih Zuhdi died surrounded by family last week.
Orwell, George, 'Politics and the English Language', Horizon, April , London,
He was a medical pioneer and life saver for so many on this earth. He was gentle and kind but he could become a tiger when fighting for a cause important to better medicine. Zuhdi and his wife, Annette, attended and sponsored many charitable events benefiting hospitals, the arts and history. I was lucky enough to get to know Dr.
He was truly one of the most delightful people you would ever meet. This man was a giant in medicine yet he never failed to stop by my office when he would visit the Gourleys to say hello and ask how my family was doing. Because of my position at the paper, I was lucky enough to get to attend some of the benefit extravaganzas that he put on to raise money for good causes.
These included bringing in Luciano Pavarotti not once but twice to Oklahoma City. This genius of a man was also fun to be around. His sense of humor was incredible and his curiosity for how things work was amazing. Most of our conversations were him wanting to know more about something I did instead of him telling me about any of the great things he had accomplished.
After starting this newspaper, I got a call from Leland one afternoon inviting me to go to an arena football game with him, Dr. Zuhdi and Dr. Jim Lowe.
