I love listening to podcasts. I know. Thrilled, as well. When I moved to Arizona to be a reporter for The Republic, my first job was in the Kingman Bureau on our late, great state desk. That was fair. Everyone has to start somewhere. Actually, I had started five years earlier in North Carolina, but you get the idea. I was, after all, the new kid.

Goodykoontz name origin

I planned to stick around a couple of years and move onto another paper. That used to be the trajectory. But in a truly fortunate series of events, I kept getting cooler and cooler beats, so I stuck around. There are so many people who have lived here so long, and know so much about the Valley and the state. I know this because I know a bunch of them.

Then one day I looked up and I had been here 34 years. Who are we kidding?
