Four years ago, on April 16, , one of the most creative and kindest people I knew died unexpectedly: Mary Lundin-Kudo. Mary was a completely original artist who saw things in a quirky wonderful way. In Ann Arbor, in , she worked at a pottery studio near the old Eden Health Food store and specialized in ceramic gargoyles, some with mysterious long fingers holding large bowls.

This review attempts to describe these problems and provide a discussion of the generation of artificial blood vessels.

Anyone who has been to the Palm Beach International Airport baggage claim area has probably seen her three-dimensional wall sculpture of tourists laden with packages. In addition to her art, Mary was just plain wonderful: fun, quick to laugh, giggled often, loved life, loved people, loved good wine and good food. We first met through our older brothers, who were roommates in college.

Her creativity and art career flourished there, she married Matsuo and they started a family and opened the wonderful Koi Japanese restaurant in Stuart, FL. I often think about her, but especially this time of year, feeling the loss of this wonderful creative force and this huge ball of joy and love and laughter. You can still look at her artwork on her website, which is lovingly maintained by her artist friends.

My personal favorites are her Vessels and Wall Sculptures. Tonight Marc and I will lift our wine glasses and make a toast to Mary, wondering what marvelous art projects she has going on now in the heavens. A wonderful artist, mother, wife, sister, daughter, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. She truly enriched life on this earth. I too loved Mary, but knew her as Lundin by the time she lived in Stuart, where I was fortunate to know her for 13 years!

Such a loving and talented person…she was amazing and wonderful all rolled into one!
